PurPest at EuroSensors 2024

EuroSensors_2024

Our partner Usman Yaqoob, from the University of Warwick, presented a poster at the EuroSensors XXXVI, which took place from 1-4 September 2024.

This conference was organized by the University of Debrecen (UD), Faculty of Science and Technology and the Institute of Technical Physics and Materials Science, Centre for Energy Research (HUN-REN CER MFA) at the campus of UD in Debrecen, Hungary.

The poster describes the custom design of a 3D printed µ-GC column combined with commercial MOX gas sensors. A spiral-shaped column is designed in SolidWorks, the 3D-printed structure is coated with OV-1, and integrated into an e-nose sensor system. 2-methyl butanol mixed with ethanol was used to test the µ-GC’s ability to separate compounds based on their molecular affinity to the PDMS coating. Our preliminary results demonstrate the potential of a basic, low-cost 3D printed µ-GC based system to offer better selectivity than MOX sensors alone.
