PurPest at European Researchers' Night 2024

INIAV partners were present at the European Researchers' Night, a Europe-wide public event displaying science's diversity and its impact on citizens' daily lives. The event took place on September 27th and the PurPest concept was presented in a fun and inspiring way.

On September 18th, our partners Ana Fundurulić and Maria João Camacho from INIAV made an online presentation at WebINIAV, a cycle of internal webinars for INIAV researchers, where PurPest was presented under the theme “Innovative Sensor Technologies for Sustainable Crop Protection: Advances in the Field of Nematode Detection”.

Sensors for agricultural robots that patrol crops

Brno meeting

Ted Turlings, our partner from Université de Neuchâtel plans to fit practical and affordable sensors for agricultural robots that patrol crops. These robots will use software to report issues to farm managers and implement immediate treatments, reducing pesticide use to only where and when needed.

PurPest at ISCE 2024

Our partenrs from JKI and UNIPD, Ali Karimi and Riccardo Favaro attended the 39th Annual Meeting of the International Society of Chemical Ecology, which took place from 14-18 July 2024, at the Czech University of Life Science in Prague, Czech Republic.

PurPest at E-NICHE 2024

Brno meeting

The PurPest concept was presented at the 1st workshop of the 2nd working group in the Cost Action 'European Network In CHemical Ecology: translating the language of life into sustainability' (E-NICHE, CA 22102) in Prague. Andrea Ficke showed some of the first results and challenges of PurPest after discussing a similiar approach used in detecting leaf blotch diseases in wheat.

Third general PurPest meeting

On July 11th and 12th of 2024, the third general PurPest meeting took place in Brno, in a hybrid format, and was an opportunity for all members to come together and discuss the progress that was made in the different work packages, and share the outputs that were produced.

INIAV and DGAV visited Hercules Laboratory

On July 5th, 2024, a PurPest meeting of the Portuguese partners took place at HERCULES Laboratory, in Évora, where INIAV, the University of Évora and DGAV teams discussed results obtained so far on volatile profiles of the pinewood nematode.

Luís Bonifácio, from INIAV, attended the XXVI IUFRO World Congress, gave a talk and presented a poster in the Pine Wilt Disease-dedicated session, and both included PURPEST project results. The event took place in Stockholm, Sweden, between the 23rd to the 29th of June, 2024.
