PurPest at the ISPM 15 workshop

International Standards for Phytosanitary Measures (ISPM) are standards adopted by the Commission on Phytosanitary Measures and a workshop on ISPM-15 was held in Germany, from 24-25 October 2023. Representatives from 16 EU member states and the EU Commission attended the event.

Our partner from DGAV, Clara Serra,  participated in the workshop and, during the event, Portugal was announced to be one of the  PurPest partners involved in evaluating volatile organic compounds (VOCs) emitted by Bursaphelenchus xylophilus.

ISPM-15 describes several treatments to eliminate pests from wood packaging material and   VOCs can potentially be used to evaluate the efficacy of those treatments on wood and wood packaging material treated and marked.
